module 2: introduction | exploration: 2e1 | reflection: 2r1 | links |
Elementary Curriculum Content Standards In this module, you will explore the elementary subject matter content standards for your state. The content standards developed and adopted by your State Department of Education define the scope and sequence of your elementary classroom curriculum. Textbooks purchased with state and local funds are usually required to be in alignment with these state content standards. Furthermore, annual state testing is usually (or should be) aligned with these content standards. In this first module, you will explore the state content standards for each of your major curriculum areas. These content standards are usually located on your State Department of Education web site. If you already know the URL (web address) for that site you can go directly to it. If not, you will use one of the clearinghouse sites on the exploration 2e1 page to locate your state content standards. Note: Often, the state content standards documents are delivered in the Adobe Acrobat .pdf format. If you are using a recent version of most web browsers, you most likely already have the Adobe Acrobat Reader software installed on your computer. If not, you can download the free Adobe Reader software at:
