Instructor's Self-Introduction
Name: Jim Lloyd Current Assignment: For the past several years I have been consulting with my local school district and working with teachers on implementing the CCSS in History-Social Studies and most recently the AP US History redesign. Prior to my retirement from Fresno Unified School District, I was a middle school history teacher for 10 years, a high school history teacher for 18 years and the head of History Social Science (Curriculum Coordinator) for 9 years (37 years in public education) I hold a California Teaching Credential-Life (secondary 7-12) as well as an Administrative credential. I have a BA (History/Political Science) and MA (Education) from Humboldt State University and Fresno State University respectively. My teaching experience ranges from inner city to affluent suburbia; conference presenter, AP reader, curriculum specialist and coach (Soccer and Baseball). Area of Expertise or Special Interest: In the classroom, I concentrated my efforts on developing innovative, technology-enriched curriculum for my AP European History and Modern World History courses. As the Fresno Unified School District History-Social Science Coordinator, I focused a significant portion of my efforts on developing a comprehensive web site to support district History-Social Science educators. I also worked on curriculum mapping and benchmark assessments for each grade level. I co-developed and have been the online instructor of this SOC 949 online course since 2003 and have guided hundreds of secondary educators through the course.
