Exporting
Your Internet Explorer Favorites (PC)
Note: These
instructions are written for the current version of Internet Explorer.
If you are still using an earlier version check the Internet Explorer
Help files for specific instructions for your version.
Use
these steps.
- Open Internet
Explorer.
- Click
on the File menu. If the File menu is not
visible, click the Alt key next to the Space
Bar to bring it into view.
- Click
on Import and Export from the list that drops down.
- Select Export
to a file and click the Next button.
- Select Favorites and
click the Next button.
- Click
on the folder you wish to export. If you click on
the top Favorites folder all of your Favorites will
be exported.
- On the Where
do you want to export your favorites? dialog box appears,
click on the Browse button and select the Desktop.
- Click
on Save.
- The dialog
box will reappear. Click on the Export button to
save a copy of your Favorites to your computer desktop. Click on Finish to
close the dialog box. Close Internet Explorer.
- Navigate
to your computer's desktop. You should find a file named bookmark.
- Right
click on this file and select Rename. Change the default bookmark
file name to your first initial followed by your last name (example: bjost)
Important Note: Use only lower-case letters. Do not use any spaces.
- Double-clicking
on this exported favorites file should open Internet Explorer and
display your favorites on the screen. Clicking on the links should
take you to the associated webpage.
- You are
now ready to send your exported favorites to me as an attached file
(see directions below if you need them).
