Exporting
Your Safari Bookmarks: Mac
Note: These
instructions are written for the current version of Safari. If you
are still using an earlier version check the Safari help files for
specific instructions for your version.
- Open Safari.
- Click
on the Bookmarks menu and select Show All
Bookmarks.
- Click
on the File menu.
- Select Export
Bookmarks.
- When
the dialog box appears, select the Desktop as the
destination for the file.
- Now,
change the default Safari Bookmarks.html file name
to to your first initial followed by your last name (example: bjost.html)
Important Note: Use only lower-case letters. Do not use any spaces and be
sure to include the .html suffix.
- Save the
renamed Bookmarks file.
- Close
Safari.
- Navigate
to the desktop and double click to open your exported Bookmarks.
You should see your entire Bookmarks file displayed as a webpage
on your screen. Clicking on the links should take you to the associated
webpage.
- You will
notice that this process exported your entire Bookmarks list. If
you want to edit the collection, try using your word processor or
TextEdit. Most current word processor software is capable of editing
webpages. You will want to be sure to save the edited file as a .html
(webpage) file.
- You are
now ready to send the bookmarks file to me as an email attachment.
See the directions below if you need them.
Next: Send
the Exported Favorities as an E-mail Attachment
