Retrieve and Read Your Email Messages After you have logged in to your email client, navigate to the INBOX. You may already have some messages wait to be read. You will likely only see the From, Subject, Date and Size message headers. Before you click on a message to open and read it, notice that there are typically some navigation buttons at the top and bottom of the screen. You will be able to use these to navigate from message to message while reading your mail. Notice that your new email messages may have a different appearance than messages that you have already read. Notice that there may a little box (or other icon) to the left of each message. Clicking inside this box will select the message(s) and will be used when you delete or move messages. Open and read several messages and notice that several new buttons have appeared. Click on each of the buttons to see what happens. Your email client typically automatically retrieves new email messages when you log in and may periodically do that while you are reading and sending email. Clicking on the Checkmail link will check with the email server to see if any new messages have arrived. Now... Let's practice sending some email messages. Next: Compose, Edit and Send Email Messages
