Blog Perhaps a classroom blog would better suit your needs. This very popular web publishing tool can easily be adapted to meet the needs of educators. Note: It is possible to create a "private blog" which offers control over who can view and contribute or even to create a "one way" blog which only you can edit. There are dozens of free blog hosting services. Let's take a look at two examples. Note: If you are familiar with other blog hosting services you are more than welcome to use them in place of Blogger or Edublog. Edublogs Edublogs was specifically created for educators and offers many excellent features. Navigate to https://edublogs.org/ Click on the Features menu to view available features. Click on the Help & Support link way down at the bottom of the Features page to learn how to set up and use your Edublog. If you decide that Edublog will meet your needs, click the Sign Up link and follow the step-by-step directions to create your blog and customize it to meet your specific needs. Important Note: Be sure to record your Username and Password. You will need it every time your edit the Blog. You will also need to record the Username and Password that you select for Student and Parent access if you decide to password protect the site. You will need to send this Student/Parent Username and Password to me when you have completed the blog so that I can view the blog and verify your completion of the module requirement. Be sure to include active hyperlinks to several of the age-appropriate and educationally relevant web resources that you have found while working on the second module of the course. Those clickable hyperlinks are, in my opinion, one of the primary reasons for having a classroom website. It is so much safer to have students start their online explorations with a clickable link to websites that have been previewed and selected by the teacher than to just turn them loose with a search engine or a complicated web address that has to be entered into the browser location bar. Your Edublog will be available online in minutes. When your Blog is complete, proceed to the Reflections and Course Conclusion assignment below. Blogger: https://www.blogger.com Google's Blogger is one of the most widely used free blog hosting services. It can easily be adapted for classroom use. If you do not already have a Google account, you will need to create one to use this service. Navigate to https://support.google.com/blogger/ Click on the Getting Started with Blogger link for an overview of the features available. If you decide that Blogger will meet your needs, click on the "Create A Blog" button to begin. If you decide to use this option, create your Blog and customize to meet your specific needs.
