Parallel Search Engines (also called Metasearch Engines)

You've probably been thinking that it would be nice to search more than one Search Engine or Web Index for topics that really matter.

Parallel Search Engines (also called MetaSearch Engines) are search tools that allow you to search multiple search engines with one query. They can save a tremendous amount of time and often turn up hits that you might miss if you use just one search engine.

You will now explore several parallel search engines. These are generally considered to be the top performers by information professionals.

In this exploration, I'd suggest that you use the same topic with each of the parallel search engines. Examine the results returned by each of the parallel search engines. Look for similarities and difference. Are the results displayed at the top of the list consistent from one parallel search engines to the next? Do you notice any unique features on the parallel search engines that are not found on other search tools?
