Exporting
Netscape Bookmarks (PC and Mac)
- Open
the Netscape Edit Bookmarks window (the keyboard shortcut
is Ctrl-B or Command-B).
- Navigate
to the File menu.
- Select Save
As.
- When
the Save As dialog box appears, select the desktop as the destination
for the file.
- Now,
change the default bookmarks.htm file name to your
first initial followed by your last name (example: bjost.htm)
Important Note: Use only lower-case
letters. Do not use any spaces and be sure to include the
.htm suffix.
- Save the
renamed bookmarks file.
- Navigate
to the desktop where you saved the exported bookmarks and open it
with Netscape. You should see your entire Bookmarks file displayed
as
a webpage on your screen. Clicking on the links should take you to
the associated webpage.
- You will
notice that this process exported your entire Bookmarks list. If
you are using Netscape Communicator versions 4 or 6, you can use
Netscape Composer to edit the webpage, removing the folders and bookmarks
that you do not wish to include.
- With
your bookmarks page displayed on the screen, click on the File menu
and select Edit Page.
- Netscape
Composer, a simple webpage editing tool, will open in a new window.
- Select
and delete the portions of the webpage that you do not wish to keep.
- Save the
page and close Netscape Composer.
- Click
on the Reload button on the web browser to reload the edited
version of your exported bookmarks list.
