AOL Web Browser Users (PC and Mac)

Current and earlier versions of the America Online web browser do not support exporting your AOL Favorites in a format that can be shared with non-AOL users as is the case with Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla and other web browsers.

Don't panic... There are at least two options for sending me the Favorites that you have collected to complete this project.

Option 1: Copy and Paste

Using this option, you will copy and paste the web addresses of your AOL Favorites into a text editor or word processing document.

  1. Open a new text editor or word processing document.
  2. Visit each webpage in your AOL Favorites collection and copy the address from the location bar on the web browser (PC: Ctrl-c | Mac Command-c).
  3. Switch to the text editor or word processor document and paste the address into the document. (PC: CTRL-v | Mac: Command-v).
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 above for each of the Favorities which you saved.
  5. Save the text editor or word processing file to your My Documents folder or your Desktop.
  6. Name the file favorites
  7. Send the favorites text editor or word processing document to me as an e-mail attachment. (See instructions below).

Option 2: Send your Favorite Places.pfc file

  1. Open the AOL web browser.
  2. Click on the Favorites button (upper right corner of the screen).
  3. Click the Manage button near the bottom of the window that opens.
  4. Select "Save My Favorite Places as a Favorites File on My Computer" from the list of options that appears.
  5. Note: The default save location is your My Documents folder but you might find it easier to find the file later if you place the file on the desktop.
  6. Click on Save.
  7. Close the Favorites window.
  8. Send your Favorite Places.pfc file to me as an e-mail attachment. (See instructions below).

Sending Your AOL Favorites as an E-mail Attachment

  1. Open AOL Mail.
  2. Create a new e-mail message addressed to bjost@josts.net with a CC to bjost@aol.com
  3. In the Subject box, type Favorites Attached.
  4. Click the Attach File button (bottom left corner).
  5. Navigate to the location where you saved your favorites (My Documents or Desktop).
  6. Select the Favorite Places.pfc file (if you used Option 2) or the favorites text editor / word processing document (if you used option 1).
  7. Click the Open button.
  8. Send the e-mail message.
